Your position controls the music

Connecting Water was an interactive GPS based sound art – where you control the music. You experience the work through headphones that you connect to your smartphone. When you walk along Gavleån, you notice how the soundscape and the music in the headphones change depending on where you are.

You experience the sound walk when you walk at your own pace, between the castle and the cape of Gävle Strand. Check the map for details of the route. You start where you want on the route, and can go in any direction you want.

If you stop for a moment, the music will keep playing, but not moving forward. As you resume the walk, the music continues to evolve. It’s like walking through a musical score, where you yourself control the tempo.
